STONEWORK CLEANING

Steam cleaning is a great way to clean stonework, this methood allows you to avoid the dangers of high pressure cleaning, with powerful pressure washers.

METHOD

Cleaning stonework requires a much more gentle approach with heat and lower pressures than a typical pressure washer. Buildings can suffer with high levels of algae growth and dirt build up over the years making them look unsightly.

  REASON

Over the years these building’s build up layers of dirt and algae that cause water retention, this can lead to deterioration and crumbling of the stonework and its mortar joints.  By using the steam-cleaning process instead of pressure washing, you avoid forcing water at very high pressures into the building.

Because of the very high temperatures involved, most of the water content evaporates quickly, keeping the building much dryer. Also, most of the algae’s and lichens that grow on these surfaces are difficult to remove without substantial heat or chemical intervention.
