SWIMMING POOL RESTORATION

Sand blasting a two pack epoxy coating, from an outdoor swimming pool in west Bedfordshire. This was done with wet blasting & crushed glass, as the blast media.

SAND BLASTING EPOXY COATING FROM A CONCRETE POOL

I was contacted about the restoration of a 12 metre concrete outdoor swimming pool, that had old & failing coats of epoxy. The approach to this job was, to abrasive blast the coatings from the surface in preparation for further work to be carried out.

WET SANDBLASTING

At CJK, we decided to carry out this project by “Wet Blasting” with a fine grade of crushed glass as the blast media. Sometimes, these two pack coatings can be very stubborn to remove. They can require quite high pressures to actually cut through the epoxy coating. In this application it was decided, to conduct this job with water suppression. This would keep the cement dust to a minimum & you also need to pay attention to the fact that the  pools surface does absorb or have a buildup of calcium And chemical residue like chlorine.
